A postdoctoral position is open for applications at the Agricultural University of Iceland to participate in the project Effects of Wetland Restoration on Greenhouse Gas Balance and Other Ecosystem Processes (ReWet). The project is funded by the Research Fund of RANNÍS. The position is a two-year appointment.
Fluxes from drained peatlands are the single largest component of Iceland`s GHG budget, but national emission numbers are mostly based on IPCC's default values due to lack of local studies. The ReWet project addresses in detail the GHG fluxes of both natural and drained peatlands in W-Iceland, and how those change when the drained peatland is rewetted. The project is led by the Agricultural University of Iceland and other collaborators come from University of Akureyri, the Institute of Land and Forest Iceland, Svarmi ehf. and University of Helsinki.
