GIS & Remote sensing / Education specialist

A specialised, project-based position is available within the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences at the Agricultural University of Iceland (AUI). The project is a collaborative effort between AUI, the University of Iceland, the National Land Survey of Iceland, and the University Centre of the Westfjords focused on establishing a graduate program/diploma in GIS and remote sensing in Iceland. The position is offered as a one-year contract, with the option of part-time or full-time hours, and the possibility of a one-year extension.

Job description

  • Collection and analysis of information on the supply of skills in the field of GIS and remote sensing, In Iceland and abroad
  • Collection and analysis of information on the demand from the domestic and international labour market in the field of GIS and remote sensing

  • Preparing and performing qualitative research, such as interviews and focus groups

  • Reporting and oral communication

  • Participation to curriculum design

Skills

  • Masters degree in GIS/Remote sensing or related field
  • Experience of teaching at university level desirable

  • Diploma in pedagogy desirable

  • Good oral and written communication in Icelandic and English

  • Strong organisational skills and diligent work attitude

  • Good cooperation and interpersonal skills

  • Initiative and independence
