On Monday, May 19th, Marek Ženíšek, the Czech Republic’s Minister of Science, Research and Innovation, visited the Agricultural University of Iceland (AUI), accompanied by the Czech Ambassador to Norway and Iceland, David Červenka, and Ministerial Advisor Václav Ágh.
During the visit, AUI presented its key research areas, its extensive international partnerships, and its strong ties with Czech institutions. Among the 150 institutions AUI collaborates with globally, the Czech University of Life Sciences ranks fifth in terms of joint publications, while the Czech Academy of Sciences ranks twelfth, according to SCOPUS data.

Minister Ženíšek expressed a keen interest in advancing research cooperation during the next EEA Grants funding period. This initiative could open new avenues for deeper collaboration between Iceland, AUI, and higher education institutions in Czechia.
The Czech delegation also toured the facilities at Mið-Fossar, where the minister was notably impressed. He expressed a desire to return to Hvanneyri in the future—not only for continued scientific engagement but also to experience the Icelandic landscape from the unique vantage point of a horseback ride.
