The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences seeks an applicant for the position of an Assistant Professor in plant breeding at the Agricultural University of Iceland. The faculty's primary responsibility is to share and preserve knowledge while improving understanding in the field of land use and livestock management. Moreover, it seeks to foster innovation through research, dissemination, and education. The covered topics are diverse and span interdisciplinary aspects, encompassing biological, technical, economic, and social factors associated with agricultural production and its broader impact on the environment and society.
The role encompasses tasks related to a cereal breeding project, including the assessment of breeding value and crossing schemes for barley. The advancement of the cereal breeding project requires additional refinement, encompassing the inclusion of wheat and oats. Moreover, individuals involved must actively engage in scientific research, a crucial component for the program's success.

Experience in research and development related to cultivation of crop plants

Experience in teaching, along with the ability and willingness for diverse knowledge dissemination in the field

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent command of English and preferably Icelandic

Attention is drawn to the fact that according to AUI's rules, the Rector may grant promotion to the position of associate professor or professor immediately upon new appointment if the applicant meets the relevant qualification criteria.
