Assistant Professor in Crop Science

About the faculty

The position is within in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. The faculty's primary responsibility is to share and preserve knowledge while improving understanding in the field of land use and livestock management. Moreover, it seeks to foster innovation through research, dissemination, and education. The covered topics are diverse and span interdisciplinary aspects, encompassing biological, technical, economic, and social factors associated with agricultural production and its broader impact on the environment and society.

• Construct internationally acknowledged research in applied crop science with emphasis on forages

• Publish peer-reviewed scientific papers, raise research grants, and actively participate in international and national collaborations

• Teach and develop courses at undergraduate and post-graduate level

• Supervise students in research projects

• Participate in the enhancement of research and development activities within the University

• PhD in crop science, other agricultural sciences, plant physiology or other disciplines in natural sciences that benefits crop science research

• Knowledge and experience of research in the field of crop science or related fields

• Teaching experience, together with the ability and willingness for diverse knowledge dissemination in the field

• A clear vision for applied research and development in crop science

• Ability to work independently and as a part of a group

• Collaborative skills and social agility

• According to regulations of the Agricultural University of Iceland the rector is permitted to grant a promotion to the position of Associate or Full Professor immediately following a new recruitment, should the appointee fulfil required qualifications.
